History

Indiana Black Expo, Inc., (IBE) was founded in Indianapolis in 1970 by a group of religious and civic leaders. Today, Indiana Black Expo, Inc. is a year-round, multifaceted community service organization with 10 chapters around the state of Indiana. IBE is governed by a board of directors comprised of individuals and community leaders from around the state of Indiana and employs a full time staff of 19.

The South Bend chapter, Indiana Black Expo was reorganized in 1997. The all volunteer group promotes unity in the African American community. SBCIBE is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization sponsoring activities that help stimulate every family member to achieve their highest potential. SBCIBE is an informative source for economic, health, education and social enriching matters. SBCIBE strongly believes in collaborating with business, religious, political, education and entertainment entities to instill pride and harmony in our communities.

For the past four years SBCIBE has received awards for outstanding achievement and we lead the way in setting new and higher goals of achievement for the other nine chapters throughout the state of Indiana.

SBCIBE is funded only through grants, donations, memberships and various fund-raising efforts. With your support, SBCIBE will continue providing its invaluable volunteer services to our community and to our state.
